Exciting news for Kerala travelers! Indian Railways is set to introduce ten new Vande Bharat Express trains across the state, enhancing inter-city connections for both tourists and residents. This expansion is expected to improve rail accessibility along Kerala’s coastal region, making travel faster and more convenient.
New Vande Bharat Routes and Stops in Kerala
According to Indian Railways, two of the ten upcoming Vande Bharat Express trains will run between Kollam and Tirunelveli, as well as from Kollam to Thrissur. Plans are also in progress to extend service from Kollam to the famous temple town of Guruvayur, located in Thrissur district. These new routes will connect Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, to Ernakulam, while also linking Guruvayur to Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
These additional routes, such as the Guruvayur-Madurai and Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram lines, will include scheduled stops at Kollam station, adding to the convenience of travelers. Trains on the Kollam-Tirunelveli and Kollam-Thrissur routes will further enhance Kerala’s connectivity.
Moreover, the Tirunelveli-Madurai Vande Bharat trains will pass through the historic Kollam-Shenkottai line, taking travelers along the scenic Kottarakkara-Punalur-Thenmala-Aryankavu route, known for its beautiful landscapes.
Ticket Fares for Kerala’s Vande Bharat Express
Ticket prices for these new Vande Bharat trains in Kerala will start from Rs 30, inclusive of all taxes. Additionally, frequent travelers can benefit from monthly passes, which allow up to 20 journeys on a single ticket, offering more savings on regular commutes.
These fares aim to make inter-city travel within Kerala comfortable and affordable for all, whether for daily commuters or those embarking on weekend getaways.
